Sin of Cortez has become a true Chico hotspot over the past 15 years. The chill vibe and the dedication to fresh, delicious food and stellar coffee is what has created this breakfast and lunch joint’s appeal. The Sin of Cortez concept is simple: there should be a really great place to have breakfast. By blending the creative and operational forces behind the cafe with a “never settle for second best” philosophy, Sin of Cortez has done just that.
Sin’s portfolio is centered around tasty entrees, fresh quality ingredients and whimsical presentations. The breakfast and lunch menus were originally created by chef Isabel Cruz. Everything served at Sin of Cortez is made in-house. The salsa is fresh. The bread is baked fresh. The beans are cooked fresh. If they had room they would probably raise their own beef!

We have a variety of pancake options: Strawberry granola, blueberry cornmeal, and banana blackberry. Our scrambled egg breakfasts are made with spinach, artichoke, pesto, or black beans – you choose! Also, our sausage comes from our local university farm.
House Coffee rated ‘Grand Cru’, the top 2% of all the world’s coffee, using Single Origin beans to ensure consistent flavor and texture. Decaf is brewed cup to cup, not by the pot.
Specialty Coffees are made to order. Mochas are made from two gourmet chocolates, not syrups. Blended drinks made with fresh espresso, not powdered mix. We also have Vietnamese coffee, Mexican hot chocolate.
Some of our lunch options include: Chicken soft tacos, black bean nachos, blue cheese walnut salad, ahi wontons, lettuce wraps and wok fried rice bowls. Sandwich options: Veggie, pesto chicken, carne asada.
